JCI NLTS - 2013

Program:  JCI National Level Talent Search Exam - 2013
Date : 30 July 2013
Place :   Bangalore North
Host: JCI Bangalore Horizon

JCI  has  lots of  very valuable programs for the  Jaycee and Non- Jaycee  student community.   JCI  Bangalore  Horizon organised the   JCI NLTS  exams for the students of Sai Shankar Vidyashala,   Sriranmanahalli,   P. K. B. High School, Marasandra,  P. K. B. P U College , Marasandra.   Students from these rural education institutions  enthusiastically participated.

The nature of  questions were very  vast and it  kindled the interests in  students to realise  that studies and knowledge are not  just for passing exams and  the general knowledge is the very basic foundation of  our growth.

We  received  questions  papers,  OMR answer sheets and a certificate of participation for every student from NHQ.  All these cost Rs 5 per participant.  The fee is subsidised by  JCI as part of its social initiative to reach out to the society

The single page answer sheet in OMR format(Optical Mark Recognition)  will ease JCI to automatically scan and evaluate the answers.  Another important aspect is that the students get exposed to the use of OMR sheet which is mostly used during various entrance  examinations.

We  would like thank Zone Ex. Officer Jc Simon P  who  helped us with the NHQ  co-ordination.   The  support from JCI and the enthusiasm shown by the educational institutions has made us to resolve to  roll this out to even larger  crowd  in the next year.

MIDCON 2013

Program:  MIDCON 2013
Date : 23June 2013
Place :  Kuvempu Auditorium, GKVK Campus, Bangalore
Host: JCI Bangalore Horizon

Life offers many challenges and there only two categories of people, one is leaders and the other are followers.

Leaders do it under any condition,
Followers wait for others to do it;

Leaders initiate and keep on going,
Followers wait and keep on asking what's next;

Leaders work for team purpose,
Followers work for them;
-from a Leader

It is all started few days before we left for LOTS.   During LOTS, we can give our bids for programs we would like to host. This was discussed among our CGB members and we all wanted to do something big to gain the experience., so we planned to bid for MIDCON!

This was received with surprise by our Zone team.  It is natural to be surprised that chapter inaugurated in Aug 2012 with 30 members is bidding for a one day Zone level event!.  May be the seriousness with which we conducted the activities, participation in various zone and national events so far and also the legacy of the parent chapter (JCI Bangalore Garden City) would have impressed our Zone officers and  finally  somewhere in May  we  got the  confirmation the we have been selected to host MIDCON.

Lots of planning went in.   First and foremost is the venue.  It should be easily accessible, prominent, spacious to seat large crowd and sufficient parking space was our requirements.  Some of the suitable marriage halls were beyond the budget.  We approached few school and colleges; somehow it did not work out.  Finally we were greatful to get the  GKVK for this occasion

The next most important task is the registrations preparations.  We could meet some of the Presidents and Chapter members during AOS/ABS.  Our Zone officers encouraged other chapter’s delegates to avail the early bird registration.  The very first encouragement came from JCI Bangalore Garden city who confirmed 100 registrations on the spot.  They were also very prompt in sending us the registration fees.

This was followed by lots of MIDCON promotions by chapter CGB and Zone officers.    During Speech Craft, we were given privilege to promote it.  During APCC, the very first banner with the confirmation of venue was released.   Our President and Vice Presidents interacted on phone to all chapter Presidents about registrations and chapter banner sponsorships.   It was promoted during Karnataka cultural festival also.   Our Zone officers personally visited various chapters and encouraged them to participate in MIDCON.

In parallel, we were getting busy with various preparations like stage arrangements, banners, invitations and identifying Guest of Honor, identifying and procuring Gift KITS to be given to the participants.  With involvement of various chapter members, committee members these things went well.

The most challenging part was estimating the number of participants to plan for catering.  Since most of the participants will be travelling from far, we have to ensure Breakfast is made ready in time.  Also the number of people having lunch will be high compared to breakfast.   It was really tough challenge to manage and more or less it was taken care.

The day of MIDCON saw most of the host chapter members arriving early, getting the stage, registration counters and food counters ready.

The program was chaired by  Jc Madhosh  Pooviah,  ZVP.

The program was inaugurated by Jc Deviprasad,  ZP

Dr K  Narayana Gowda, Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences  was the Guest of Honor.

Jc Sadananda  Navada  EVP,  was the Chief Guest

After the inauguration,  there was a  cultural program by Dreams  Dance Academy.

This was followed by Keynote address by Jc Sen Ramesh Batavia, PNP

The participants enjoyed their lunch in the serene open space of GKVK campus

Afternoon session had many cultural programs from various chapters and Awards and Recognitions to chapters for excellent JCRT, JJC and JC programs were given away for Zone officers.
Our Chapter JCI Bangalore Horizon  received the recognitions for  Training,  G&D,  Program, Business,  JCRT and JJC from respective  Zone  Directors, and JCRT, JJC  chairpersons.

We also  received the first runner up award for training from Jc Nagesh, ZD, Training.
We were very delighted to received the Best LOM award from Jc Kiran Ponnappa, ZVP

The program concluded with vote of thanks followed by High Tea.

We would  like to convey our  sincere thanks to  all  our chapter members for their smart work, volunteers of Chamundi Guild, all the JCI members of Zone 14 who came from near and far to show your participation,  ZGB  officers  for their guidance and support,  GKVK  management for their support throughout day and earlier, JCI national leaders Jc Ramanathan L and Jc Sen Ramesh Batavia for their motivation.    With all your support it was a success for the JCI movement.

We also would like to appreciate and acknowledge various sponsors whose help provided us the necessary financial and moral support

ZTWS - 2013

Program:  Zone Trainers Work Shop (ZTWS)
Date :  6 to 9 June 2013
Place :  Hotel Royal Fort,  Bellary
Host:  JCI Bellary Steel city

“You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover it within himself"
--Galileo Galilei

If your  first impression becomes the best impression, everything else becomes easy. On 6th morning we got from the train with the thoughts about getting autos to reach the venue.

What got the attention of us was just 4 letters written on a paper and held overhead.  "ZTWS".   Yeah.  The host were waiting there to pick us up.   What a great way to start!. Later we learnt that, it was our zone 24 host Jc Thirumala who did that magic to us. We  met host President Jc Damodhar and few other hosts there.

From that moment, till we came back on Sunday night to the same railway station, we  were taken care every minute.

Even though we had so many sleepless nights, if we go to the hall in the night for some dissuasion or preparation with our friends,  our hosts will also be there.    They could have made arrangements, given their phone numbers and gone back to sleep, But they stayed back with us. ZVP Jc Rajabakshi Sir,  ZVP Jc Prakash Sir, Jc Thirumala and many more were  present there talking to us, helping us. Their very presence meant a lot to us.

This kind gesture gave us lots of  motivation to do well.

The  four day training program under the pilot ship of Jc K Krisha Murthy Sir along with co-pilots Jc Alakananda Madam and Jc Jaychand Bafna Sir involved so many inputs, activities, output sessions which kept us fully occupied and brought out the best from us.

The faculty team also ensured that we kept our mind cool with physical exercise, yoga and meditation sessions in the mornings.

Before every major output session,  Jc  K Krisha Murthy Sir and Jc Jaychand Bafna Sir helped us to relax through wonderful music and other techniques.

We had good time mingling with other participants working us teams and pairs and helping each. It had given us many new friends too.  There was a sangama of Tamil(Zone17) and Kannada (Zone14, 24) happening.

Thanks a lot to JCI for such an insightful program.
