Lend a Hand for Education

Date: 17 Feb 2013
Venue:  People’s Trust Campus, Sri Ramanahalli

People’s Trust runs a school in its campus which provides quality education to the neighboring rural areas.  It also runs a residential program called TREP (Total Residential Educational Program) where   underprivileged children are given free accommodation and education.  It is not just any other hostel for poor; the emphasis is more on values and confidence.

Every year,   admission session is conducted for the TREP program.  It involves written tests and oral interactions.    People’s trust invited us to lend them a supporting hand in the selection process.   This time there were around 150 applicants.  Team of volunteers from JCI Bangalore Horizon and other well-wishers  of People’s Trust  supported the  students and management of  TREP.

It was such a well-organized event, the various steps fell in place one after the other. One batch was busy conducting the written exams, another batch collecting the answers, another batch correcting them and yet another batch in totaling them. The outputs were fed into computers to get consolidated results. The oral interactions followed next.

In between all these well synchronized events, we were all served with the very cooling and soothing buttermilk by the TREP volunteers.  The management also ensured lunch was served to all the guests

When aspiring students were busy with their tests, there were separate sessions going on for the parents/guardians on various school programs and important social awareness opportunities and how they can participate and improve our society.

We felt happy to be part of JCI and doing whatever we could do to help People’s Trust.

Yoga for Memory

Date: 16 Feb 2013
Venue: Samskruthi Kendra, Malleswaram.

The Junior Jaycees of our chapter started their very first program with a unique and specifically designed Yoga program. The focus of this program was to introduce the children to simple but effective yoga asanas which will stimulate their nervous system and enhance their memory. The benefits of this are manifold. They become relaxed, their focus improves, and they can start enjoying their studies and become cheerful altogether.

Yoga master Jc Suresha Kuppan made all these simple steps and postures interesting and appealing to the children. At the end of the session, there was a memory game which demonstrated the point how a relaxed and enhanced mind will help to improve their memory power.

The first three places went to Jr Jc Bhavana, Jr Jc Kiran Bose, Jr Jc Valli C.

Orientation Program

Article by Jc Sakunthala

Date:  27 Jan 2013
Place: Pavithra Paradise, Basvaweshwara Nagar, Bangalore

Since JCI is an NGO which  functions out of the membership fees, it does not spend money in direct promotion of JCI through  print and visual media.  Instead, all members of JCI  become the brand ambassadors and their work, conduct itself is a promotion of JCI.

We, the JCI members  talk to others explaining various activities and benefits and bring them to JCI family.

To augment this informal activity for the purpose of providing
  •  complete  details of  JCI ,
  •  importance of internal development,
  •  how this will help their profession/business
  • importance of social responsiblity
to new and prospective members,  our chapter arranged for a  1hour 30 minute  session

Jc Divya madam has  gracefully accepted to this very important role of faculty.  Jc Dr C J Jeyachander welcomed the faulty and introduced her to the gathering.  Jc Divya warmed up the crowd through team games and started the orientation program.

The orientation program involved group activities and discussion on the benefits of coming together and working. Faculty took the participants through the evolution of JCI and various services involved and how individuals get benefited by being part of it.
The orientation was well received by the gathering.   Jc Dr. C J Jeyachander thanked the Pilot faulty and the participants
