Venue: People’s Trust Campus, Sri Ramanahalli
People’s Trust runs a school in its campus which provides quality education to the neighboring rural areas. It also runs a residential program called TREP (Total Residential Educational Program) where underprivileged children are given free accommodation and education. It is not just any other hostel for poor; the emphasis is more on values and confidence.
Every year, admission session is conducted for the TREP program. It involves written tests and oral interactions. People’s trust invited us to lend them a supporting hand in the selection process. This time there were around 150 applicants. Team of volunteers from JCI Bangalore Horizon and other well-wishers of People’s Trust supported the students and management of TREP.
It was such a well-organized event, the various steps fell in place one after the other. One batch was busy conducting the written exams, another batch collecting the answers, another batch correcting them and yet another batch in totaling them. The outputs were fed into computers to get consolidated results. The oral interactions followed next.
When aspiring students were busy with their tests, there were separate sessions going on for the parents/guardians on various school programs and important social awareness opportunities and how they can participate and improve our society.
We felt happy to be part of JCI and doing whatever we could do to help People’s Trust.
